VEX Robotics Competition VA State Championship

The Virginia State Championship to take place at Meadow Event Park in Doswell on February 20th and 21st 2015

February 12, 2015 – The Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation is pleased to announce the VEX Robotics State Championship to be held at Meadow Event Park in Doswell on February 20th and 21st 2015. The event is expected to attract more than 750 elementary, middle and high school age students who will be competing in the VEX IQ Challenge and the VEX Robotics Competition with two full days of robotics matches sponsored locally by Micron Foundation, CSC, Learning Blade, DES, and Synergy Technical.

“Northern VA Community College’s SySTEMic Solutions has seen the growth and increased interest in robotics engineering programs locally and we are thrilled to support our students’ interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics by organizing the VEX Robotics Competition State Championship,” said Amy Harris, Director, SySTEMic Solutions, Northern Virginia Community College.

The REC Foundation’s programs are among the largest and fastest growing in the world and in order to accommodate the explosive growth, the Foundation expects to add a number of state events in the coming years, offering students more opportunities to compete locally and save on travel costs for competition.

The Virginia State Championship is one of a series of VEX IQ Challenges and VEX Robotics Competitions taking place internationally throughout the year. The competition is free and open to the public and families are encouraged to come and enjoy the event. VEX Robotics is the world’s fastest growing competitive robotics program for elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and colleges around the world, with more than 11,000 teams from over 25 countries that participate in more than 800 competitions worldwide. The competition season culminates each Spring, with the highly-anticipated VEX Robotics World Championship presented by the Northrop Grumman Foundation and the REC Foundation, which unites top qualifying teams from local, state and international VEX Robotics events.
