Public or Private Cloud? What about Hybrid?

Cloud deployments are classified into three different types.

Public Cloud -These services are provided over the Internet. Generally, you have little control over the underlying technology infrastructure. Benefits to this type of cloud are that it reduces complexity and is generally fast to deploy. It can be substantially less expensive than other cloud models. In this type of cloud deployment, you are sharing system resources with other organizations. This is also referred to as a “multi-tenant” solution.

Private Cloud -This version of a cloud deployment is similar to a public cloud deployment in that it offers technologies as a service. The main difference is that is deployed over either an internal company network or by a hosted datacenter. The private cloud deployment shares few, if any resources with other organizations. This type of cloud deployment is often deployed when advanced security and highly available solutions are required and can’t be guaranteed in a public cloud.

Hybrid Cloud -This approach utilizes and combines both public and private clouds. Depending on the nature of the required activities, an application may be deployed to either a public or a private cloud as required. The overall solution utilizes both public and private cloud infrastructure to provide the complete environment.

In order to determine the best fit for your organization, you will need to complete a technical assessment of your applications and infrastructure. This can be a daunting task – but rest assured, we are here to help.
